  1. How to examine keyboards

Currently, there are many tools that can help us test our newly bought keyboards, using Online tools is the best computer trick and usually applied by many people.

+ First, visit the website: http://www.keyboardtester.com/  > then click on Launch the Tester on the page’s interface to start using.

+ A window will then appear emulating a keyboard layout. Here, we will press each key on the keyboard one after another. If the keys are defected, they will light up with green, otherwise they will not.

  1. How to type documents when the keyboard is faulty

In the case that your keyboard becomes faulty or some of its keys got malfunctioned but you haven’t been able to get a new keyboard yet, these 2 computer ticks will help you out of the “sticky situation”.

+ Using the On-screen keyboard available in Windows (OSK)

First, open up the RUN dialogue box (or press Windows + R) > enter the keyword OSK > Press Enter to open the On-screen keyboard.

Even though this method is slower because you have to use mouse, it is very useful in practice.

+ Use the Unikey typing tool

Unikey is a very familiar document typing tool to all of us, but not everyone knows how to make use of all the functions this application has to offer, one of them is the ability to redefine keys for the computer. In fact, we will replace faulty keys with functional but rarely used keys.

First of all, right-click on Unikey under the Taskbar > select the “Edit macro table…” option.

The Macro Definition window will appear. Now you can replace the faulty keys as followed:

+ In the Replace box: type in the functional but rarely used key.

+ In the With box: type in the faulty key.

For example, we have a faulty “A” key, but our “*” is still functional and we want to redefine the “A” key into the “*” key. Here’s how to do it:

Enter “*” in the Replace box, then enter “A” in the With box > Then select the Add button then Save it. Repeat the same with other keys.

Now open your document-typing program and press the “*” on a blank space, it will show up as “A”. To remove this temporary definitions, simply enter the Marco Definition window as above to revert the changes.

Above is how to check for keyboard errors using online tools, and to type documents when the keyboards is faulty. We hope this article proves useful to you. Good luck!
